The SHE Society is designed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment which guaranteed and protected women’s constitutional right to vote. In the spirit of gratitude to DVAC/The Contemporary Dayton’s founding mothers, we invite you to help support our critical exploration of Contemporary Art by Women Artists of the Midwest.

Cauleen Smith: Remote Viewing
April 30–July 17, 2021
Christening the Jack W. and Sally D. Eichelberger Foundation Video Gallery in its new home at the Dayton Arcade with Cauleen Smith’s short film, Remote Viewing—a reenactment of the obliteration of a black community’s history by digging a deep hole in which to bury a historical schoolhouse.
Mychaelyn Michalec: From a Basement on a Hill
August 6–October 16, 2021
This solo premiere of Dayton’s-own will feature stunningly-scaled, hand-tufted fiber paintings along with small embroidered works, claiming the realm of both “women’s” work and fine art.

Followed by exclusive SHE Society Artist Dinner.
